November 9, 2011Iraq to reveal identity of conspirators
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says Baghdad will reveal identities of certain Iraqi individuals as well as some regional states that are conspiring to destabilize Iraq in due time.
Speaking to members of the media on Tuesday, the Iraqi premier said “well-known political figures” and “some regional countries” are scheming to foment insecurity in the Middle Eastern country, Fars news agency reported.
He noted that Baghdad will expose identities of the conspirators at an appropriate time and following the completion of investigations into the activities of Ba'ath Party leaders who have recently been arrested.
Maliki went on to say that the former elements of the Ba'ath Party attack the government on a daily basis and stressed that the Iraqi government aims to maintain the country's territorial integrity, security and stability.
Iraq has been the scene of daily bombing attacks and shootings targeting civilians, army and police personnel since the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.
Meanwhile, all American forces are set to leave Iraq by the end of 2011 after Baghdad refused to grant legal immunity to US soldiers remaining in the country.
