Erbil announces agreement on oil and gas act with Baghdad

The Government of Prime Minister Barham Salih, Kurdistan, Arbil reached Wednesday agreement with Baghdad on the draft bill on oil and gas, it is submitted to the Iraqi Council of representatives before the end of the year.

Saleh said in an interview with NPR Radio "an agreement reached recently الیه بیننا وبین as Federal Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki over the draft law of oil and gas," he said, adding that "the project will be presented to the Iraqi Council of representatives before the end of this year to vote on it."

Saleh did not say the content of the new draft, but he stressed that "the Iraqi Constitution allows for the Kurdistan region benefit from fields and newly discovered oil wells in the region", noting that "territory on the basis of this constitutional right, began to develop economic infrastructure for oil".

And he said "the fact that the Government of the territory now produce and export oil through the Iraqi pipelines abroad", stating that "oil revenues exported from the territory fields goes to the Central Treasury.

The oil and gas law is among the many outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad and carried lengthy dialogues and negotiations between the two sides to reach a formula trdaihma, exchanged send delegations to negotiate, having both charges other CAL blocking solution.
