Barham Saleh, 2 US senators discuss situation in Iraq, Kurdistan region
Erbil, Prime Minister of Kurdistan region, Barham Saleh, who is currently on a visit to the United States, discussed with Senators, Mark Kirk and Roy Blunt, the situation in Iraq, including Kurdistan region, and in the Middle East.
A statement issued on Thursday, Nov. 10, by the Office of Kurdistan region’s Prime Minister, said that Kurdistan region’s Planning Minister, Ali Sindi, and the region’s representative to the US, Qubad Talabani, attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Senator Kirk said, “Though American forces are withdrawing from Iraq, yet the United States will continue in supporting Iraq, as well as Kurdistan region, with its democratic program to be implemented in the rest of Iraq.”

For his part, Barham Saleh pointed out to the political situation in Iraq and the developments the Middle East region is witnessing; he stressed that the participation of all Iraqi components in its political life is the only and genuine solution to all outstanding issues.
Saleh added that the region’s construction and reforms are in need to our friends’ support to develop Iraq’s democracy and pluralism to meet requirements for the ongoing developments the Middle East is witnessing. / End.
