Zebari meets Kobler, discuss bilateral relations
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshair Zebari and the new head of UNAMI Martin Kobler discussed the role of his mission in assisting Iraq to end all pending questions in the UN Security Council, a ministry statement announced today.
Aswat al-Iraq received a copy of the statement.
Iraq is subject to UN Chapter VII of 1990 which permitted the use of force against Iraq for invading Kuwait.
The statement said the meeting discussed different UNAMI activities in Iraq within the framework of its competence.
Kobler was officially appointed on 11 August 2011 as special UN Secretary General's representative following Dutch Ed Melkert, who had filled the post since July 2009.
