Viet Nam, US sign defence cooperation agreement
Washington, The Viet Nam and United States governments have identified five priorities for defence cooperation, including maritime security.
The cooperation is embodied in a Memorandum of Understanding that Vietnam Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh and United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence Robert Scher signed in Washington last week.
The Viet Nam News agency lists the other priorities set at the second defence dialogue between the two countries as peace keeping; humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
Vietnam News Agency quotes Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh as saying Washington’s strong commitment to helping Viet Nam overcome the consequences of war, especially the clearance of unexploded ordnance.
