Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Javad Oji said that in a trilateral meeting in Damascus last week, Iran, Iraq and Syria reached new important agreements on construction of Iran’s gas export pipeline.
According to Shana News Network, expressing satisfaction with process of trilateral negotiations, NIGC’s top executive, he said Strategic Common Committee in its first meeting in Damascus made good decisions.
Speaking on the achievements of the meeting, Oji said that choosing the project’s consultant and signing its related contract, examining the ways of funding the pipeline and making a decision on the route of the pipeline were among the other important achievement of the meeting.
The next meetings of the three countries will be held in Tehran and Baghdad.
Iran, Iraq and Syrian oil ministers signed a 10 billion dollars deal in July 25 on transferring Iran’s gas through Iraq and Syrian territories to Lebanon and then to Europe.
It is estimated the pipeline that is said will come online in 2013 or 2014.
