Talabani discusses with Nujeify results of his meetings with Political Leaders
Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani has discussed with Parliament’s Speaker Usama al-Nujeify the results of his recent meetings with the Leaders of the active political forces, in order to eliminate the current political tension, a Presidential statement reported on Sunday.
“Discussed in the meeting had been the political, security and service conditions in the country, as well as the exchange of viewpoints about the course of events and developments in the Region and the Arab World,” the statement stressed.
The statement pointed out that President Talabani had also discussed during his recent meeting with the Leaders of the active political parties “the elimination of the current political tension on the political arena, in order to ease out the atmospheres and activate the constructive dialogue to implement the agreements and strengthen the national partnership among the political parties.”
It also stressed that both sides had discussed another topic, which is the issue of Kirkuk Province, on which both sides have “confirmed necessity to lean to the Constitution and to reach an understanding to settle the suspended issues, in order to strengthen fraternity and national consensus.”
“The President had reiterated that an encouraging phase had been reached to strengthen cooperation in Kirkuk, confirming necessity to encourage this positive course on the Kirkuk arena, in order to create a suitable platform for a civilized and fraternal coexistence among all components,” the statement concluded.
