Maliki: Iraq is determined to activates, rehabilitates its ports, speed up constructing Faw Port

Baghdad, Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, said, “Iraq is determined to activate and rehabilitates its ports.”

A statement issued on Sunday, Sep. 11, by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Maliki met with the Chairman of Dubai International Ports, Sultan Ahmed Bin Saleem, and the delegation accompanying him.

The statement quoted Maliki saying during the meeting, “We are working to speed up the construction of Faw Port and execute all projects that will elevate the work level, since Iraq is looking toward using its ports to import needed material for its construction scheme.”

Maliki praised, “Experience and efficiency that Dubai Ports Company enjoys and its readiness to cooperate with Iraq.”

For his part, Bin Saleem expressed the readiness to Dubai Ports Company to cooperate with Iraq, pointing out that rehabilitating Iraq’s ports will give positive results for the region, in addition to Iraq.

Minister of Transport, Hadi al-Amiri, and the UAE Ambassador to Iraq, Abdullah Ibrahim, attended the meeting.
