PM to attend UN assembly session
GENEVA: HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah concluded yesterday his official visit to the Swiss Confederation, proceeding to New York to head the Kuwaiti delegation at the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

HH the Prime Minister was seen off at Geneva International Airport by the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Switzerland Dr Suhail Khalil Shuhaiber, the Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Dherar Razouki, and members of the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in Berne and Geneva. The Prime Minister had started his visit to the European nation with a meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation and Foreign Minister, Micheline Calmy-Rey.
The two sides discussed, during the meeting that also involved members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness, the distinctive ties between the two friendly countries in various sectors and means of boosting these relations. They also reviewed various international issues of common concern, as well as the two countries' stances toward these affairs.
Following these talks, Sheikh Nasser proceeded to the headquarters of the National Council, where he was warmly welcomed by the Parliament Speaker, Jean-Rene Germanier, council members and attended the council's legislative session. His Highness conveyed greetings of the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Jassem Al-Kharafi, to the Swiss people and his wishes that they enjoy further progress and prosperity.
HH the Prime Minister also relayed Al-Kharafi's invitation to his Swiss counterpart to visit Kuwait and get acquainted with its democratic experience. The two sides had also discussed the solid bilateral ties between the two countries. HH the Prime Minister had been also received by the Mayor of Berne, Alxander Tchappat, who expressed great satisfaction for hosting the first Kuwaiti premier.
Kuwait Ambassador to Switzerland Dr Suhail Khalil Shuhaiber held a broad formal reception for the premier and the Kuwaiti officials, with attendance of Swiss officials, legislators and diplomats. Sheikh Nasser's accompanying delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Finance Minister Mustafa Jassim Al-Shimali, Minister of Health Dr Hilal Msaed Al-Sayer, Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Amani Khalid Buresli, Minister of State for Planning a nd Development Affairs Abdulwahab Rashid Al-Haroun, the President First Deputy of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al-Saqer, Advisor of Amiri Diwan Mohammad Abul-Hasan, and Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Dr Ibrahim Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah.
During the official mission, Al-Shimali, Dr Al-Sayer, Bouresli and Al-Haroun held talks with the chairman and members of the Swiss business confederation. The meeting was attended by members of the Kuwaiti Chamber of Industry and Commerce and representatives of the Kuwaiti private sector.
