Iraq-German coop discussed by Industry Minister, German Ambassador

Iraq’s Minister of Industry & Minerals has discussed with the German Ambassador to Baghdad, the expansion of industrial cooperation between both countries, an Industry Ministry statement reported on Sunday.

“The Minister of Industry & Minerals, Ahmed Nasser Dally, has conferred at his Ministry’s office in Baghdad on Sunday with the German Ambassador to Baghdad, Carl Berger, accompanied by the General-Manager of the German Fun Car Industry Company, on bilateral relations between both countries and means to activate them for the benefit of the two friendly countries,” the statement, copy of which dropped in Aswat al-Iraq news agency, stressed.

It said the meeting, attended by the Ministry’s Scientific Advisor, Dr.
Hammoudi Abbas and the Director-General of Iraq’s state-owned General Company for Car Industries, had confirmed Minister Dally’s readiness to study the request of the German Company to conclude a partnership deal with Iraq’s General Company for Car Industries.

“The Minister had also expressed his Ministry’s willingness to cooperate with the German companies in different fields related to car industries and to benefit from the German expertise in this field, calling on those companies to enter the Iraqi market and benefit from the investment opportunities of the Ministry’s companies and plants,” the statement stressed.

The German Ambassador, on his part, had confirmed the wish of the German Industry Minister to visit Iraq, leading a delegation of German businessmen and representatives of the German companies, during the forthcoming session of the Baghdad International Fair, to discuss the mechanism and means of joint cooperation and the transfer of the German expertise to the Iraqi side, as well as the discussion of the investment opportunities in Iraq.

The Ambassador also “confirmed the intention of the German companies to enter Iraq and cooperate with it in different fields, especially the small and middle-size industries that have a clear effect on the German economy.”

“The Ambassador reaffirmed that the German Fun Company is one of the large companies, specialized in car industries, and had worked in Iraq in the past, wishing to return back to its activity in the country, through signing new partnership contracts with the Ministry of Industry & Minerals,” the statement concluded.
