Kuwaiti FM to participate in Arab League extraordinary meeting on Saturday

Cairo, Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah will take part in an extraordinary meeting on Libya and Syria to be held at the Arab League's headquarters here Saturday.

"The first issue on the meeting's agenda is unfreezing Libya's membership in the Arab League and recognizing the National Transitional Council as the legitimate representative of Libyan people," Kuwait permanent representative in the League Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghuneim told KUNA.

Al-Ghuneim revealed that an NTC representative would address the meeting about the recent developments in Libya.

"The meeting would also touch upon the situation in Syria on backdrop of the recent developments on the ground and the newly-imposed UN sanctions on several Syrian officials," Al-Ghuneim said.

He noted that Kuwait's high-level participation in the meeting shows its clear supporting stance to the rights of Syrian people.
