Rising Food Prices in Horn of Africa


A report by the
World Bank (DailyNation)

said the price of maize in the Horn of Africa doubled over the past year, directly contributing to an ongoing famine in war-torn Somalia and surrounding countries.


Global food prices are being driven up by a number of factors including bad weather, low stocks, and unstable commodities markets. Combating price volatility and protecting food security will take increased agriculture production and better food distribution
