Parliament pressing for oil deal ban
Parliament's Oil and Energy Committee wants the legislature to ban Iraq's central, regional, and provincial governments from signing any new oil or gas contracts until a long-delayed hydrocarbons law is passed.
The committee formally submitted a statement to Parliament, a copy of which was given to Iraq Oil Report by committee adviser Luay al-Khateeb of the Iraq Energy Institute, calling for a vote banning any new deals until the law is passed.
