Regional, int'l orgs. meet in Cairo over Libya
CAIRO, Senior officials from regional, Western and international organizations met here Saturday to discuss the Libyan question.
UN Secretary General's special envoy to Libya AbdulElah Al-Khateeb, Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission Jean Ping, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa were attending the meeting.
An Arab League source, in a statement to the press on condition of anonymity, said the officials would discuss means of reaching a political settlement for the conflict in Libya.
They will discuss how their organizations can help Libya and its people in light with the developments on the ground, and how the genuine implementation of UN resolution 1973 could protect civilians in the north African country, he said.
