Political entities should not cling to their ministers -

Baghdad, A National Alliance MP called on political entities not to cling to their ministers their failure was proven, stressing the need to minimize the number of ministries as one alternative after the 100-day period.

MP Batoul Farouq told Aswat al-Iraq that Premier Nouri Al-Maliki "will evaluate the work of his ministers for the last three months, which shall be delivered to the parliament for re-evaluation to see the reasons behind their failure."

"The failure is not connected to the minister himself, but to the laws of each of the ministries.

Thus the parliament should abrogate old laws and submit new ones so that the ministries will be able to work freely," she added.

She expected that the number of the ministries shall be minimized after the 100-day period.

Premier Maliki had set on 28 February 2011 a 100-day time table for the government to evaluate the work of the ministries and the provinces, following massive demonstrations in Baghdad and a number of provinces, demanding eradication of corruption, improvement of services and living standards as well as putting an end to unemployment.

Baghdad, Premier Nouri Al-Maliki directed that the people should have a role in evaluating the work of the ministries, government establishments and local governments for the past 100 days.

In a statement issued by his office, he concentrated on services establishments.

Maliki ordered live transmission for interviews for the ministers stating their reports, accomplishments and obstacles facing them during the 100 days.

He designate the period to evaluate the work of the ministries and local government, following massive demonstrations covered Baghdad and other provinces demanding change, reforms and combating corruption and unemployment.

450 tribal sheikhs meet for reconciliation conference

Karbala, The Ministry of National Reconcilation held a meeting attended by 450 tribal sheikhs from three provinces to discuss questions related to national reconciliation, Interior Ministry sources said today.

Captain Salman al-Hasnawi told Aswat al-Iraq that the conference was held under the auspices of Premier Nouri al-Maliki, and attended by ministers , MPs and local officials from Karbala, Najaf, and Babil provinces.

The conferees stressed the importance of disarmament and putting criminals on trial.

He added that the conference aimed at strengthening national reconciliation thoughts and consolidate security in their areas.
