McCain arrives in Iraq
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) arrived Sunday in Baghdad, Iraq, he said in a tweet.
McCain, the globetrotting ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, revealed that he had arrived in Iraq, after most recently visiting war-torn Libya two weeks ago.
McCain actually posted his tweet to note that he'd run into members of the Marshall Tucker Band, where the classic rockers had embarked on a tour to entertain troops.
It's not immediately clear for what purpose McCain visited Iraq, though he regularly tours countries in the Middle East, sometimes with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) in tow.
McCain arrived in Iraq just after a delegation, led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), departed on Saturday. Pelosi and eight lawmakers met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to talk military progress and the timetable for U.S. withdrawal from the country.
