Talabani: Palestinian reconciliation agreement is a step towards the establishment of an independent state

Erbil, May 4 (AKnews) - President Jalal Talabani, Wednesday, signed a reconciliation agreement between Fatah and Hamas in Cairo to "extremely important step towards the establishment of a Palestinian state," calling for an end to division and promote Palestinian unity.

Talabani said in an official letter addressed to the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, and received by the Kurdish news agency (AKnews) a copy of them, "I congratulate you warmly for the great achievement that has been the signing of an agreement of national reconciliation, which is responsive to the aspirations and demands of the brotherly Palestinian people and all the supporters of the just cause" .

He called for "an end to divisions and unite and strengthen the unity of the national fabric." Expressing confidence that "would be a step of paramount importance in achieving the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent national and live in peace and security and stability in the region."

And signed by the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, who is also head of the Fatah movement, and head of the political bureau of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal in Cairo, a reconciliation agreement ends four years of Palestinian division, and the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip and Fatah in the West Bank, and the formation of two governments two for each movement. And the Agreement on Reconciliation sponsored by Egypt.
