07/05/2011 High-ranking delegation from the U.S. Congress reaches Kurdistan tomorrow
Arbil, The press secretary to the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, is scheduled to visit a senior delegation from the U.S. Congress, the Kurdistan region on Sunday, to meet the region's president and officials of his government.
Twana said Ahmad Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) that "a senior delegation of U.S. Congress headed by former president of the U.S. House of Representatives (Nancy Pelosi) will arrive in the Kurdistan region and meet with regional president Massoud Barzani, the Prime Minister Barham Saleh."
Ahmed said that "the aim of the visit the delegation of the U.S. Congress is meeting with officials in the government of the Kurdistan region and discuss the political situation in Iraq and developments in the region."
He pointed out that "the other side of the goal of the visit is the strengthening of bilateral relations in political, economic and Astbab security in the region of Kurdistan and Iraq, as well as the activation of relations between America and the region in the framework of the Constitution of Iraq."
The delegation of the U.S. Congress met today with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
