Fatah leaders to discuss conciliation accord implementation

GAZA, Leaders of the mainstream Palestinian movement Fatah will begin meetings in Ramallah on Sunday, focusing on mechanisms of implementation of the recently achieved conciliation with the Islamic organization, Hamas, said the presidential spokesman on Saturday.

Nabil Abu Rudainah, in remarks to KUNA by telephone, said Fatah's Revolutionary Council will start a two-day meeting on Sunday. The organization Central Committee will hold a meeting ahead of the session of the council, part of regular meetings, held at this level every three months.

The leaders of the movement will deliberate a host of key issues, namely the reconciliation with Hamas and the stalemate of the peace process, he said.

Palestinian leaders have been examining various options to try press ahead with the process for establishing an independent state, such as securing international recognition of such a state by September.

On schedules for the implementation of the deal with Hamas, Abu Rudainah told the Kuwaiti news agency that leaders of Fatah and other Palestinian factions would hold meetings, next week, in preparation for forming the interim unity government.

He also indicated at other crucial issues that need to be addressed -- such as reconstruction of Gaza and holding legislative and presidential polls in a year.
