May 22, 2011Maliki urges political blocs to take a position on the extension of U.S. troops to stay
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, said the political blocs are not clear about their positions on the extension of the survival of U.S. forces in Iraq, where the Kurdish regional President Massoud Barzani, told U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates during his recent visit to Iraq, said the decision to extend the survival of American power after the end of the year is everyone's responsibility and not the government alone.
He called al-Maliki in an interview yesterday with Al "free" the leaders of blocs and parties to the agreement on this subject before it is put to the Cabinet or the House of Representatives, though he noted the need to keep some U.S. trainers.
The other hand, Maliki ruled out consensus on candidates for positions of the three security ministries, and called the House of Representatives to vote on candidates for these ministries, whether rejection or acceptance.
