Monday, May 23, 2011Maliki: Iraq violence politically driven
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki stated on Sunday that violence in Iraq is politically driven. Some “terrorist” attacks are politically covered, Maliki argued noting that his government is scrutinizing the achievements of the 100 day deadline.
Maliki told a press conference on Sunday that Iraq is still gripped by politically driven contract killing.
“Some terrorist attacks are politically covered by certain parties”, he affirmed during the press conference attended by Alsumarianews.
Baghdad Operations Command reported on Sunday that two car bomb explosions and a number of bombings in the capital left behind 87 people among killed and wounded.
“The government will face any party that violates security regardless of its background, confession or ethnicity”, Maliki stressed.
“Instead of speaking for Iraq in a unified language that boosts the stand of the country before the world, certain political parties show disunity in their speeches which brings disrespect to the country”, Iraqi Prime Minister argued.
Maliki urged Iraqi officials to show responsibility and take hold of their accountabilities. He called on them not to renounce responsibility stressing that political stability leads to security stability and draws in investments.
Violence is mounting in Baghdad and other provinces since March casting the life of tens of people, officers and governmental officials. The country meanwhile is amid a political crisis due to the incomplete government formation and pending security ministries.
“There will be no investments in Iraq in light of security and political instability and as long as officials are renouncing their responsibilities. The government is scrutinizing the achievements of the 100 day deadline. Iraqi officials should be held accountable and should leave way for others to take up the duty”, Maliki concluded.
