Iraqi PM meets French top brass
BAGHDAD, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki received here on Monday representatives of the French Defense Ministry and arms manufacturers.
During the meeting the French delegation handed the Prime Minister a written invitation from his French counterpart Francois Fillon to visit Paris, AL-Maliki's office said in a statement.
Al-Maliki stressed the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation between Iraq and France in all fields particularly in the defense industry and Iraq's rebuilding process, according to the statement.
Earlier today the French infrastructure firm Alstom signed an agreement with the Baghdad provincial government to develop the Baghdad metro project at an estimated cost of EUR 1.5 billion.
