Economic council forms committe to follow up resolutions of Sharm al-Sheikh summit

Cairo, The Trade Minister said Thursday that the Economic Council formed a committee to follow up the implementation of the resolutions of the Arab Economic Summit held in Sharm al-Sheikh earlier this year.

The Arab economic summit was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on 19 January with the participation of Arab States, including Iraq which called the participating countries during the summit to support its economy, and facilitate the entry of the Arab companies to it.

The Iraqi Trade Minister, Khairallah Babaker told AKnews that "the Committee will hold its meetings on a regular basis on the sidelines of meetings of the Council.
The first meeting of the Committee will be held next September.

Babaker said on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of the Economic and Social Council held in Cairo that the trade Arab ministers demanded of following up the implementation of the resolutions of Arab summits."

"The Council adopted the files that will be discussed in Baghdad summit in 2012 and at the top the social and economic files and issues that have the priority in achieving Arab economic integration."

The Arab League announced earlier today the postponement of Baghdad 12 months, at the request of Iraq, which will host it.

"The ministers stressed on that Baghdad summit must address the issues which responsibilities are distributed among a number of ministries within the State and their treatment require coordination between the various entities within the State."

The Arab League has confirmed earlier their support for the efforts done to revive the Iraqi economy and as a continuation for the plans and initiatives of the first Arab economic summit held in Kuwait in 2009.
