On the new date for the emergency ministerial meeting which was scheduled on Thursday at the Arab League has been postponed, Moussa said that "there are consultations underway now to determine the date of the meeting of Arab foreign ministers due on the date by mid-month."
It was decided to postpone the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers to the middle of this month instead of on Thursday, where he was scheduled to consult on the situation in the region and date of the summit of Baghdad.
It was assumed that the Summit will be held under the chairmanship of Iraq, in 23 of the month next March but was delayed to 29 of the same month, before being postponed to the month of May and then to an undetermined date after.
Analysts had swung the possibility of postponing the summit of Baghdad, especially since a number of Arab countries witnessed changes in their ruling.
Iraq did not add an Arab summit since late May of 1990 due to economic and political blockade imposed on it at the time.
Zebari said in the month of February last, holding the summit would not be affected by the protests and unrest in some Arab countries.
But lawmakers and Iraqi officials said that Arab protests in some countries, may adversely affect the Arab summit in Baghdad.
The representative of Iraq at the Arab League's ambassador to Qais al-Azzawi (Rn) that "the meeting was a message sent by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to the League of Arab States in the overall issues relating to Iraq."
