U.S. forces withdrawal is on time
Baghdad, - The media spokesman of the U.S. military said Saturday that there is no intention for the forces to stay in Iraq after December.
Nader Suleiman told AKnews that the U.S. military is committed to the convention signed with Iraq to get out completey of its territory as scheduled.
"Some political parties have speculated about the stay of the U.S. military in Iraq for a longer time than December but this is unrelated to the reality because Baghdad and Washington are committed to the Convention and there is no need to extend the stay of the U.S. military."
"The role of the U.S. military is limited to training the Iraqi forces and to provide backing and logistical support in case the Iraqi government formally requested it."
"The Iraqi forces are capable of keeping security in the country after the complete withdrawal of the U.S. Army in December, which will be final from the Iraqi territory." Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has threatened to mobilize a military wing of his movement that fought the US forces following the 2003 US-led war on Iraq if the US forces stay in Iraq after 2011.
