April 13, 2011 FM in Doha, attends Int''l contact group meeting on Libya
DOHA, Deputy Kuwaiti Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah landed in Qatar on Wednesday heading the Kuwaiti delegation which is to attend the first meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya, hosted in Doha.
Sheikh Mohammad was greeted upon his arrival by Assistant Foreign Minister Saif Muqaddam Al Buainan, the Kuwaiti Ambassador Ali Salman Al-Haifi, and embassy staff.
The meeting is set to be inaugurated later in the day to discuss the current situation in Libya and means to support its citizens, as well as implementing UN resolutions 1970 and 1973 on Libya.
The senior-level participants include the UN Secretary General and the Foreign Ministers of France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. The US is also to be represented by Under Secretary William Burns, while the Arab League is represented by Secretary General Amre Moussa, and the Organization of the Islamic Conference by its Secretary General Akmaluddin Ihsan Oglu.
As for Arab parties, in addition to the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, there is also representation for Lebanon, Iraq, and Morocco.
