Iraqi parliament seeks to improve economic ties with South Korea
Baghdad - An MP from the National Coalition (NC) said on Sunday that parliament seeks to improve its relations with its South Korea during the visit of the Iraqi delegation headed by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to South Korea next Tuesday, adding that the visit will also serve to form the Iraqi-Korean Friendship Association.
Iraq's parliamentary delegate to South Korea, the Economy and Investment Committee's Salman al-Moussawi said that the formation of the Friendship Association will strengthen cooperation in economic fields between the two countries.
"The Iraqi delegation that will visit Korea this week will carry with it a number of issues, most prominently economic ones," he said, "...calling on Korean companies to enter as strong investors in Iraq during the next stage."
Maliki's visit to South Korea will come a few days after a visit the South Korean Economy Minister Jong-Yung Goa visited Baghdad for the first time and discussed with Iraqi officials prospects for economic cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Maliki confirmed during his meeting with the South Korean minister the ardor of his government to develop economic relations, and pointed out that Iraq has submitted a number of infrastructure projects to Korea that are open for investment.
