Iraqi foreign minister to talk to parliament soon
Baghdad, A member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the parliament said Thursday that the presidency of the parliament decided to host the Ministers of Finance Rafie al-Issawi and Foreign Affairs Hoshyar Zebari after canceling the demands settlement convention between the Iraqi government and the government of the United States from the agenda, noting that the meeting of her committee with Zebari did not address the Convention issue.
Nada al-Jabbouri told AKnews that her committee held a lengthy meeting with the Foreign Minister Zebari and his deputy Lubaid al-Abbawi at the headquarter of the committee today in order to develop joint mechanisms between the committee and the ministry.
"The committee discussed with Zebari and Abbawi the issue of postponing the Arab summit that will be held in Baghdad in addition to the meeting of Arab foreign ministers," denying that "the meeting discussed the Demands Settlement agreement between Baghdad and Washington."
"The Foreign Relations Committee in the parliament, under the chairmanship of MP Hammam Hamoudi, agreed with the Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on putting controls on the performance of the ministry and leave the old ways adopted by the Ministry and work according to it away from the control of the Foreign Relations parliamentary Committee."
The Iraqi parliament held earlier today its 59th session headed by Osama al-Nujaifi to ratify on the settlement convention between Iraq and the United States, while the Foreign Relations Committee met the Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to discuss the summit and detainees in neighboring countries.
