Kuwait FM stresses Arab economic summit to address social, economic issues
DAMASCUS, Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said that the State of Kuwait felt many years ago the sense of resentment entertained by Arab citizens in general.

He also asserted that this prompted Kuwait to propose holding an Arab economic summit biannually in order to address social, economic, and development issues as well as all hurdles obstructing the progress of Arab peoples.
The previous remarks were made at an address delivered on behalf of Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah by diplomatic attache at the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Fahad Mohammad Al-Hajji to the sixth Arab world conference organized by Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA) in Damascus under the patronage, and in the presence of Syrian first lady Asmaa Al-Assad. http://www.harvardarabalumni.org/event.php
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad made clear to the conference that was also attended by Kuwait's ambassador in Damascus Aziz Al-Daihani that issues of education, housing, infrastructure, and health care came high on the agenda of the first Arab economic summit in Kuwait in 2009 that came off with flying colors.
He also said one of the most salient initiatives presented by HH the Amir Shiekh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is the establishment of a fund at a total capital of USD two billion to which Kuwait contributed USD 500 million with the aim of funding small and medium-sized enterprises.
Further, He said that though rates of Arab human resources development edged up by 66 percent in what also applies to the domains of illiteracy eradication, health care, and the general standards of living, the Arab world is still short of high rate indicating soaring pace of economic and political reforms.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad said that it was taken for granted that press is the fourth esatate, though it became clear nowadays that technology has become the fifth estate represented by the social networking websites of Facebook and Twitter that worked as a means of communiation among youth who make up the majority of the Arab population now.
