Iraqi Parliament received names of candidates for key security ministries


Erbil, Names of three candidates for three securities related Iraqi ministries have been submitted to the Iraqi parliament, source said. The candidacy includes the Iraqi ministries of the Interior and Defense which have been disputed by the major political parties as of December 2010.

Also a candidate for the portfolio of planning had been submitted to the parliament alongside the Interior and Defense candidates. Spokesman for the Kurdistan Blocs Coalition (KBC) Moayyed Tayyib told AKnews that the résumé of each of Khalid Mutahhib for the position of minister of defense, Ibrahim al-Nami for the position of minister of the interior and Yousef Abdul Nabi for the planning minister position have been submitted to the parliament.

But a vote on the candidates was not on the parliament’s Thursday agenda, according to another MP Shwan Mohammed Taha. “They are expected to be put to vote next week”


Taha said he believed that there may be a kind of agreement by the political actors to vote in favor of the candidates.
