Cairo, Iraqi Foreign Minister , Hoshyar Zebari said on Wednesday that democracy and its institutions and the peaceful transfer of power is the true guarantor of any system that wants to maintain the confidence of the public and the people's faith in it , in conjunction with developments in the Arab region.
Zebari said during the opening of the 135 session for the Ministerial Council of the Arab League in Cairo that the current stage experienced by the Arab action system is important and pivotal stage as it is standing in front of the biggest test of its history in front of new developments and hazardous events experienced by the Arab region.
The Iraqi foreign minister stressed that "democracy and its institutions and the peaceful transfer of power and public freedoms and social justice in distributing wealth is the true guarantor of any system that wants to maintain the confidence of the public and the people's faith in it."
"Many of our Arab brothers had expected failure of the democracy experiment in Iraq, but the general approach of the Authority and the basis based on the principle of democracy and peaceful transfer made power pass crises and encountered obstacles."
