Thursday, March 10th 2011Security ministry candidate votes postponed
Baghdad, The parliamentary vote on candidates for the three unallocated security ministries, due to be held in parliament today, has been postponed to next week.
A State of Law Coalition (SLC) deputy close to the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, told AKnews that today’s session will focus solely on the recent wave of public rallies and the government’s plans to meet the demands of the protestors.
“Submitting the security ministry candidates for a parliamentary vote has been postponed to next week due to the lack of consensus on the selection of candidates,” he said.
Maliki has been heading the Ministries of Defense, the Interior and National Security since parliament gave the vote of confidence to his cabinet line-up on December 21.
The three key ministries have remained unallocated due to ongoing disputes between the political blocs over the right to lead them.
