Kuwait minister in Geneva to meet UNCC

GENEVA: Kuwaiti Minister of Oil, and Minister of Information, and Chairman of the Central Committee for Overseeing the Environment Rehabilitation Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah said that his meeting with UN Compensation Commission (UNCC) tomorrow will touch on the latest developments, and listen closely to their remarks.

Sheikh Ahmad added upon his arrival in Geneva that the meeting -- which will be attended by a joint delegation of Kuwaiti executive and legislative authorities -- will be briefed by the UN Commission on the sound measures that should be taken, and the optimal style of work of the commission in the future.

He also said that the meeting will aim at evaluating the commission's action, and introducing the remarks of the Kuwaiti delegation as well as listening to its views on relevant topics. Sheikh Ahmad was received upon his arrival by Kuwait's UN permanent representative in Geneva Darrar Abdulrazzaq Razouqi, members of Kuwait's permanent mission to UN in Geneva, and Kuwait's ambassador to Switzerland Dr Suheil Shuheiber.

The UN Compensation Commission is a subsidiary organ of the United Nations Security Council that was established in 1991 to process claims and pay compensation of losses resulting from Iraq's invasion and occupation of Kuwait.

The delegation accompanyiny the minister include members of the envionmental and nuclear energy committee at the Kuwaiti National Assembly Dr. Ali Al-Omair, Dr. Aseel Al-Awadhi, Marzouq Al-Ghanem, and Khaled Al-Tahus, and Adnan Al-Mutawa. -
