February 7, 2011Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari received on Monday 07/02/2011 Neal Wolin , the United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, and a delegation of senior officials and advisers in the U.S. Treasury and the State Department, with James Jeffrey , the U.S. ambassador to Iraq.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Iraqi - U.S. relations, especially after U.S. troops withdrawal from Iraq by the end of year 2011 , and the need of U.S. embassies, consulates and offices in Iraq to alternative procedures and arrangements.
The Minister stressed the government's keenness to develop relations between the two countries through the Strategic Framework Agreement for a Relationship of Friendship and Cooperation, and to provide necessary support and assistance for the U.S. diplomatic missions in the country.
They also discussed the government's measures to protect the Iraqi funds after ending the Development Fund for Iraq next June
The meeting was attended by the Ministry's Undersecretary, Advisor and Heads of America, Law and Protocol Departments.
