Iraqi Pres. to visit Kuwait tomorrow to partake in nat''l celebrations

BAGHDAD, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani will head Friday to the State of Kuwait in order to take part in the 50th independence and the 20th liberation anniversaries.

"In response to the invitation sent to head of the republic Jalal Talabani from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to visit the State of Kuwait, and take part in the celebrations marking independence and liberation of the sisterly country, the Iraqi President will pay an official visit to Kuwait tomorrow which falls on February 25, 2011," a statement by the Iraqi Presidency said, a copy of which KUNA obtained.

Talabani had previously received an official invitation letter from HH the Amir to visit the State of Kuwait that was by Kuwait's ambassador to Baghdad Ali Al-Moumen on December 20, 2010.

It is expected for the Iraqi President to meet a number of the heads of the states attending the Kuwaiti national celebrations.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani asserted that marking the Kuwait's national day 50th anniversary gains a special importance this year as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of Kuwait's liberation from the yoke of the defunct regime of Saddam Hussein, and what followed this of redressing the grievances incurred on both Kuwait and Iraq as a result of the crimes perpetrated by such past despotic regime.
