Iraqi Premier meets UAE Foreign Minister

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki held a meeting with UAE Foreign Minister H.H Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In remarks at the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE’s support for the people and the government of Iraq.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Iraq.

Sheikh Abdullah arrived in Baghdad Thursday morning starting a two-day visit to Iraq.

He was received by Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari, the UAE Ambassador to Iraq and senior Iraqi officials.

Present at the meeting were Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Khaled Ghanem Al Ghaith, Director of GCC Affairs at the UAE Foreign Ministry, UAE Ambassador to Iraq Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zewi Al Shehhi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Major General Eissa Al Mazrouei, Director of the Office of UAE Minister of Defence for Military Coordination Major General Ateek Juma’ Bin Darwish.

Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to Maliki congratulations from Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on the formation of the new Iraqi cabinet as well as their best wishes of prosperity and progress for the people of Iraq.

Al Maliki asked Shaikh Abdullah to convey his greetings to Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid and Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed.
