Melkert calls for resolving outstanding issues
The United Nations Envoy in Iraq Ad Melkert who is currently in Washington, in a press statement , said that demonstrations in Iraqi cities show the necessity to resolve the outstanding issues between the Federal Government and the Government of Kurdistan Region before they trigger conflict .
Melkert also said the UN is working with officials in Baghdad and Erbil to try to set an agenda for addressing differences, including disputes over oil revenue-sharing and the future of the city of Kirkuk.
