11-Feb-11 Iraq - President Talabani receives US Ambassador in Iraq
President Jalal Talabani in Baghdad, on Thursday night, February 10, received the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. James Jeffrey and his accompanying delegation.
Bilateral ties between Iraq and the United States of America and ways of developing them in all fields to serve the interests of both friendly people, were key issues discussed in the meeting.
The President stressed the need of the joint work to enhance the long term friendship between both countries and establish the basis of stability , development and consolidate the democratic process.
President Jalal Talabani also talked about the development in the political and security situations in the country in addition to the political leaders efforts in finding acceptable solutions to the outstanding issues . He emphasized that the terrorism will not prevent the Iraqis from moving forward towards stability , building and progress .
President Talabani highlighted preparations taking place in the country , to host the next Arab Summit in Baghdad.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador reiterated his country's support democratic political process in Iraq. He emphasized the constant support of President Barack Obama's administration for the Iraqi people at all political, economic levels and others, in order to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Jeffery , commended the crucial role of President Talabani in the political arena.
