Arab League summit confirms Baghdad on 29 March next

Denied the League of Arab States, on Friday, put on hold the next summit in Baghdad at the end of next March because of the turmoil in the Arab world as declared by Libya, which holds the rotating presidency.
He said the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa, said "the League Secretariat has not received any formal request to change the date of the Arab summit," noting that "this decision should be taken collectively by all Member States."
The News Agency of Libya, which holds the rotating presidency of the League of Arab States said on Friday that the presidency decided to postpone the Arab summit scheduled to be held next 23 of 29 next March in the Iraqi capital Baghdad because of the turmoil in the Arab world.

And Iraq participated in the Arab summit twenty-second session held in Sirte in Libya late last March of last year, 2010, at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing Iraq minister Hoshyar Zebari, and discussed the most prominent Arab issues, including the Palestinian issue, and the draft statute of the Iraqi parliament, in the absence of Lebanon to participate at a high level after the announcement of the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, for lack of personal involvement, against the backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the Libyan role in the disappearance of Imam Moussa al-Sadr.
It is noteworthy that Iraq has hosted the Arab summit twice, in convening the Arab summit, the ninth in 1978 and to decide which province companies and institutions operating in Egypt that deal directly with Israel and disapproval of the Camp David, as well as the convening of the summit of the 12 in 1990, which saw severe tensions between Iraq and Kuwait and the UAE and the United Arab erupted evacuated the first Gulf War.
