Iraqiya ends naming heads of its committees
Baghdad, AL- Iraqiya List confirmed Monday the completion of naming the heads of the permanent parliamentary committees, while Kurdistan Bloc’s coalition (KBC) stated that his bloc did not agree to the moment on nominating the heads of the committees and the National Alliance demanded for more time.
AL-Iraqiya MP, Nahida Daini told AKnews that AL- Iraqiya List has completed naming the heads of the permanent committees in the parliament, refusing to disclose the names until voting on them in the parliament.
Daini stressed that the political blocs have to end naming the heads of other committees so that the parliament can start actually its legislative and the supervision duties."
"These committee will discuss the laws draft and provide observations in the event of cancellation , amendment or adding to the laws, as well as control the ministries and its work“.
Al- Iraqiya List MP, Karema al-Jouray told AKnews earlier that her list has resolved after internal discussions seven permanent committees and named the heads of six of them; economy and investment committee headed by, Talal al-Zobaie, Human Rights headed by Haidar al-Mulla, women committee headed by Thuriya al- Quraishi, reconciliation and accountability headed by Etab Jubouri, education headed by,Abdel-Dhiab al-Ujaili and oil committee headed by Adnan al-Janabi.
A leader in the National Alliance, Hassan al-Sined told AKnews that "the National Alliance is not over yet from naming the heads of the committees of its share."
"This matter needs more study and time to reach an agreement among the political blocs”.
The presidency of the Iraqi parliament formed last November a committee to review its internal system , it consisted of 19 members headed by First Deputy , Qusay al-Suhail, and raised its report for the presidency, which included several amendments”.
KBC MP, Mahmoud Othman confirmed that the "coalition didn’t finish naming the heads of the committees."
"The subject of naming the heads of the committees will be discussed tomorrow in the parliament meeting."
The political blocs agreed to increase the number of parliamentary committees from 24 committees to 26 after the increase of the deputies’ number from 275 in the last session to 325 at the current session.
It was also agreed that the presidency of the Committee won’t be from the bloc that the minister belong to .
