Electrical project to give thousands more power, boost economy
Electrical project to give thousands more power, boost economy
BASRA, Iraq - The Government of Iraq and Basra Provincial Reconstruction Team, supported by U.S. forces, initiated a project to provide additional power throughout the Al Andalus and Al Gazaiza communities.
Funded by U.S. forces, the new 11 kilovolt feeders cost a total of $400,000 and will help deliver longer periods of power to people living in areas with minimal or failing power networks.
Each feeder line is capable of increasing the time residents receive power by 30-40 percent during high-demand periods. The overall project will increase power for over 40,000 people.
The completion of this electrical distribution network is just one of the many projects initiated by Government of Iraq and the PRT intended to help the people of Iraq with their electrical needs and support economic development.
