Believe it or not, people in our society today lack manners. It seems that the words "Thank you" and "You're welcome" are words from a distant past. In the past, manners were considered to be part of one's upbringing. Gestures .. such as thank you and you're welcome .. showed signs of a well rounded, well educated person. Today, people take things from others without even acknowledging that they did so. They will take from other people and claim it as theirs. I suppose this could be blamed on our failing school systems or it could be blamed on the persons family and their outlook as to what is important and what is not.
In my opinion, a simple thank you or a simple you're welcome should be a part of everyone's vocabulary.
