UAE urges GCC to convey message of peace, stability to world
UAE's Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nuhayyan called on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states Sunday to convey a message of peace, stability and development to the rest of the world.
In a brief speech before a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Arab Gulf countries, Sheikh Abdullah said their political meetings and deliberations "reflect our common will that our voice be clear and heard in international conventions."
This voice, he added, "should convey a message of stability, peace and development (a message) that our countries hold." Sheikh Abdullah, whose country takes over the rotating Presidency in tomorrow's summit, said the agenda of the one-day Foreign Ministers' meeting included issues of interest to the Gulf leaders in the political, economic and cultural domains.
The agenda, added the UAE's top diplomat, also included other issues that concern the life of the Arab Gulf citizens.
Sheikh Abdullah said the agenda and resolutions that they would refer to their leaders about the studies and projects would mirror "our common desire ... to boost our common action." The Foreign Ministers will be preparing the agenda and resolution for the December 6-7 GCC summit.
Kuwait is represented by Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
