19th meeting of ECO''s foreign ministers starts in Istanbul
ISTANBUL, The Council of Ministers (COM) of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which is the highest policy and decision-making body of the organization, held its 19th meeting here Wednesday under the leadership of Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
The Turkish News Agency (AA) of Anatolia said that the ministers will discuss in the meeting the final draft of the statement which will be issued at the close of their meeting as well as items of the final communique that will be called the Istanbul declaration with the item of collective cooperation among ECO member states foremost among them.
This meeting is held one day before convening the 11th summit of the heads of states and governments of the member states of ECO.
Turkish president Abdullah Gul will receive today a number of the heads of states and governments who will take part in ECO 11th summit which will start in Istanbul tomorrow, noting that Gul will meet Iraqi president Jalal Talabani, Azeri president Ilham Aliyev res, Kazak Prime Minister Karim Masimov and Tajik president Emomali Rahmon.

ECO seeks to boost cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural domains among its member states, establishing a common market of commodities and labor force and liberalizing trade and customs barriers among these respective states.
