Russia, India to develop new-generation nuclear reactors
Russia and India will develop new-generation nuclear reactors for nuclear power plants, specifically fast neutron and thorium reactors.
A decision to that end is part of an agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy that was signed in New Delhi earlier today. The signing ceremony was attended by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Other areas of cooperation could be nuclear medicine and particle accelerators. Russia and India signed some 20 cooperation agreements following the talks in New Delhi, including an agreement whereby Russia will build approximately 20 nuclear power-generating units in India.
