Egyptian, Arab officials discuss preparations for Arab economic summit
CAIRO, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abulgheit said on Monady that a joint meeting that he held with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry, Rashid Muhammad Rashid, dealt with preparations for second Arab economic summit due in Sharm El-Sheikh on January 19, 2011.
Abulgheit said in a statement to the press following the meeting which was today at the Arab League headquarters that there is an agreement between the league's general secretariat and Eygpt on all the summit's elements with their objective, procedural and organizational aspects.
Meanwhile, Moussa asserted that there will be specific meetings and specialized forums that will precede the summit meeting including a meeting for private sector, civil society organizations and youth in order to put forward their proposals that will be reviewed by the Arab economic summit.
Further, Moussa said that the second Arab economic summit will be devoted to following up the implementation of the resolutions made in Kuwait Arab economic summit and following up the mechanisms of implementation.
On his part, Rashid said that summit will mull several important projects related to the railway, electricity, land and maritime linkage, stressing the summmit's importance for activating the joint Arab action in various fields.
