Agenda for second day of KDP congress
Erbil, The official spokesman for the 13th congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was elected in the first day of the assembly. The general political report of the party will be read and six committees will be formed Sunday.
After 12 years, the KDP, a leading party in the Kurdistan Region, launched its 13th congress Saturday in the Expo Center in Erbil, the Regional capital.
Barzan Mala Khlid, a long-serving member in the party, was elected as the official spokesman for the congress. He told AKnews the political report of the party will be read by Fadhil Mirani, the secretary of the party. The report will then be discussed and ratified.
Six committees for the party’s program, regulations, general organization, finance, complaints, and decision and recommendations will be formed here, Sunday, Khlid added.
Each committee will be assigned a head, a deputy and two decision-makers; the nomination for membership in the teams is open to all the 1350 congress members. The committees should submit their report within 24 hours.
On Monday the leader of the party is expected to be elected. Since the party-founder Mustafa Barzani’s death in 1979, his son Massoud Barzani has led the KDP. The party was founded in 1946.
Form the 251 candidates for the headship board of the party, 51 will be elected through secret ballot.
In the inauguration ceremony of the event, Barzani who is also the Kurdistan Region’s President stated the congress will decide on autonomy for Kurds.
