GCC FMs meet in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, Foreign Ministers of the Arab Gulf countries were meeting here Sunday to prepare the agenda and resolutions for the December 6-7 GCC summit including, among other issues, a host of political, economic, security and social matters.

The top diplomats of the six states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will be putting final touches on the final communique for the 31st summit.

Kuwait is represented by Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

The meeting is chaired by the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayved Al-Nuhayyan.

Among issues to be discussed are Iran's nuclear file, the developments in Iraq, the Palestinian cause, the Middle East peace process, Sudan and Somalia.

Also high on agenda are the custom union, the common Gulf market, the monetary union, and joint development projects like the electricity linkage, the railway and free trade between the six GCC states on one side.

This is the sixth summit for the GCC leaders to be held in the UAE capital.

The GCC consists of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and the UAE.
