Lawmaker calls for media coverage of parliamentary session
Najaf, An MP from the National Coalition (NC) called on parliament speaker Fuad Masum on Sunday, to make Thursday’s parliamentary session open to the media so that the public can follow its proceedings.
Kamila al-Moussawi told AKnews that MPs must attend Thursday's meeting because it is crucial to the election of the next parliament speaker, adding that the names of the attending and absent MPs must be announced so that the Iraqi people will know the truth.
Moussawi said that some blocs are often absent from parliamentary sessions for personal or partisan reasons though they claim to attend and media coverage would oblige them to be present.
A full house is essential according to Moussawi, in order to “achieve the quorum and choose the parliament speaker and his two deputies."
