Three Turkish companies to install 20 gas-powered turbines in Iraq.
Baghdad, The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity said Sunday it awarded three Turkish companies contracts to install 20 gas-powered turbines at three power generating stations in Iraq.
"The projects, involving USD 900 million investments, aim to generate up to 2,500 megawatts," spokesman of the ministry Mus'ab Al-Madras told KUNA here.
The ministry had previously announced tenders for launching the three gas power stations of Al-Khairat in Karbala Governorate, Nineveh in Nineveh Governorate, and Al-Quds in Baghdad.
"The Turkish firms namely Enka Insaat ve Sanayi - a construction conglomerate based in Istanbul, Calik Enerji holding co., and Eastern Lights Enerji, have been the successful bidders," Al-Madras said, noting that contracts would be signed later this week.
The results of the tendering have been approved by Minister of Oil and Acting Minister of Electricity Hussain Al-Shahristani, and Undersecretary and General Supervisor of the Ministry Sallam Qazzaz, he added.
